1. Hair mask is a very effective way to retain moisture to the dry hair. Take a half piece of mashed avocado, egg yolk of 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix all of them thoroughly; and apply it on the hair from scalp to tip. Let the mixture work on hair for 1 hour. One hour after application, rinse the hair with warm water. Afterwards, shampoo with cold water, and condition as usual. Use this remedy once a week.
2. Take 5 tablespoons of olive oil, and two eggs. Mix both of them thoroughly, and apply this mixture on hair for 15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse hair thoroughly.
3. Take 1 teaspoon of each comfrey roots, nettle, chamomile flowers and elder flowers. Add these herbs in boiling water, and leave them to stand for 30 minutes. After leaving them to stand, add one-fourth cup of apple cider vinegar in it and mix them well. After shampooing your hair, pour the prepared mixture over the hair repeatedly.
4. Take one cup of heated mayo, and wait till it becomes oily; and apply it on hair for 15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse your hair thoroughly, and if necessary shampoo your hair.
5. Regularly massage your head with aloe vera juice.
6. Massage head with warm coconut oil, and leave it overnight. Next morning shampoo and condition as usual.
The above mention home remedies for damaged hair are very effective and less time consuming indeed. But, there are some tips which may help to prevent hair from getting damaged. Firstly, limit the use of chemical based treatments, for example dyes and perms. Secondly, in case you use heated instruments, just try to use them at lower settings because excessive heat will dry the hair, and damage them. Thirdly, avoid brushing hair when they are wet. Also, to avoid hair breakage use wide-toothed combs.
